Lapsely

Take a photo.
It finds the date.

Receipts, insurance letters, warranty cards, MOT certificates, membership renewals. The dates that cost you money when you miss them are printed on paper you file away and never look at again.

Lapsely photographs the page, reads it on your iPhone, and works out which date on it actually matters. You check what it found, and it books the reminder.

Lapsely is not on the App Store yet. This page will carry the link the day it is.

The Lapsely home screen, showing a return deadline four days away and three more dates coming up. The result of a scan: a return deadline of 22 September 2026, with the line it was read from shown underneath. Every saved date, grouped into this week, this month and later.

How it works

1

Photograph the page

A receipt, a policy schedule, a warranty card. Anything with a date printed on it.

2

Check what it found

Lapsely shows you the date, what it thinks the date is for, and the exact line it read it from. When a page was hard to read it says so and asks you to check.

3

Get told in good time

A reminder in good time before the deadline, not only on the day you have already missed it.

It works out what the date is for

A receipt carries the day you bought something and, in the small print, how long you have to take it back. The date you actually need is neither of those on their own — it is the two added together, and it is not printed anywhere on the page.

Lapsely does that sum, and tells you it did. It separates a return deadline from a purchase date, a renewal from the day cover started, a warranty expiry from the day of purchase. When it finds more than one date it shows you all of them and lets you pick.

Everything stays on your iPhone

There is no account and nothing to sign into. Photos are read on the device using Apple's own text recognition, and where Apple Intelligence is available that runs on the device too. Nothing is uploaded. There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.

Export gives you a spreadsheet file of every saved date, which you can open anywhere.

What it costs

Free

Free, for as long as you like

  • 5 scans a month
  • 15 saved dates
  • One reminder on each date
  • Adding a date by hand does not use a scan

Pro

A monthly or yearly subscription

  • Scan as much as you like
  • Keep as many dates as you like
  • Up to 4 reminders stacked on one date
  • Dates that come round again by themselves

There is no free trial. Being reminded costs nothing, for everybody. The price is shown in your own currency inside the app, and a subscription is cancelled in your Apple Account settings.

What it does not do

Lapsely does not promise to find a date on every page, or to read every date correctly. A photograph of a piece of paper is not a certainty and the app never pretends otherwise — it shows you what it read, and nothing is saved until you say so. It is a reminder tool, not advice about any policy, warranty or return scheme.

It is not a document scanner, a PDF manager or a filing cabinet, and it is not trying to be.
